Well the time has come to put a wrap on another Ross County Fair. All the rides are starting to close down, the sales are finishing up, and some of the campers leaving the grounds and heading home. The 63rd annual Ross County Fair will truely be remembered for one thing, the weather. Monday through Thursday may have easily made this truely the hottest fair ever. From talking with fairgoers who have been coming for decades never remember it being so hot. Then of course after the strong storms that rolled through Thursday night we got a bit of relief and made for some beautiful weather the last couple of days, in particular today.

Congratulations go out to all of the exhibitors this year, not just the winners, for a job well done with their projects this year. I know it was really hard for those with animals out here with the heat, and according to Fair Board President Rick Ginther there were no increases in animal deaths out here from past years.

As I type this from my own camper, I can hear the demolition derby in the grandstand. You can tell it is a packed house in there cause the crowds are wicked loud after hard collisions of the cars. Also tonight is the junior fair dance in the junior fair office.

We would like to thank all of our sponsors for our fair broadcasts this year; especially the Nourse Chillicothe Automall for the broadcast center, DFW Furniture for the trip to the Henry Ford museum in Michigan for one lucky person who signed up at the broadcast center. Also thanks go out to Sherwood Auto and Camper Sales in Hillsboro for furnishing our camper this year, and on the first four days of the fair it came in handy for us to get out the extreme heat for a little bit and cool off in the air conditioning.

Our fair website will remain up for the year, so you can look back at our reports and photos from this year's fair. Finally a special thanks to everyone who stopped by and talked to us during the week. Speaking for Michael Frank and the rest of the crew who were out here this week, we had a great time reporting from out here and hope everyone enjoyed it as well.

Greetings again from the Ross County fairgrounds. Last night's storms seem to have given us a little bit of relief as far as the heat is concerned. It is still a little hot, but it feels so much better out than the last four days. So if you haven't been out at the fair, today would be a perfect day to head out here.

The storms last night made for an interesting concert at the grandstand. As you may have heard, the Bucky Covington concert turned into an "unplugged" session in the grandstand. Those of us in the grandstand didn't realize what was going to happen as far as the show cause after the rains let up, the crew were starting to clear the stage and fold up chairs, so we all thought the show was cancelled. Then in the corner of my eye I see two guys come up with guitars and sat literally 5 feet from where I was sitting. Then all of sudden you see police escorting Bucky up to where the guitar players were and they played an acoustic performance that was incredible. They played Bucky's top 10 hit "Different World" along with requests from the hundreds who stay for this special performance. It really spoke wonders for Bucky who easily could have stayed on the bus and cancelled the show, but wanted to play for the fans who payed to see him perform. Of all the shows I've seen throughout the years at the Ross County Fair, last night's concert was truely the best one I have ever seen out here.

As you have heard on the news, animal sales out at the fair have already begun with last night's swine sale. The grand champion hog belonging to Cole Flesher sold for 10 dollars a pound. Most of the time is either one of the Ross County political parties who buys the grand champion animals but this year it was Flesher's great grandmother, Henrietta Lane, who bought the grand champion swine.

Well it's time to go out and enjoy this nice weather we have for today and hopefully it will stay like this again tomorrow. This reminder that you only have 2 days left to register for the trip to the Henry Ford Museum up in Dearborn, Michigan courtesy of DFW Furniture in the Chillicothe Mall. Just stop by our Nourse Chillicothe Auto Mall Fair Broadcast Center to register. Don't forget to listen to WKKJ at 4 and 5 pm to hear live fair reports from Michael Frank and myself. Also joining us today is weekend morning anchor Vanessa Doyle. Now we are off to take more pictures, have a great day and we'll see you at the fair.

Well let's try this again. I had a blog ready to send and I lost it. Well the rides out at the fair are starting back up, they were closed until 4pm this afternoon because of the heat. This was for the health of the ride operators mainly. The games on the midway were closed until Noon this afternoon. There is a possibility this may be the case again tomorrow. So as you can see the heat is taking it's tool on everyone. As you have heard from Fair Board President Rick Ginther this week, you can bring in your own bottle water into the fair grounds. There are also water fountains located around the grounds and nearly all the food vendors serve water to help you keep hydrated.

Still going on at the fair is the Market Rabbit Judging. With 61 classes this year, judging will be going on well into the late afternoon and early evening hours. Swine showmanship today was suppose to begin at 3pm, however with the heat that was moved until 7pm tonight. There are rumors circulating that swine showmanship may be cancelled all together. Once we get information on that we will post on our fair website and also on WKKJ, WBEX, and WCHI during our fair reports and on the news.

Tonight's main attraction at the grandstand is the truck & tractor pull and antique tractor parade. That gets underway at 8pm. If you are at the fair stop by our Nourse Chillicothe Auto Mall Fair Broadcast Center and say hello to Michael and me. At the broadcast center until 6pm will be Dan Ramey and Mike Smith of WBEX's Dan and Mike in the Morning. Also my WKKJ Scoreboard Show co-host Greg Bigam will be out here until 6 this evening.

Well I'm going to get off of here and greet everyone who stops by. As I tell everyone who stops by this week, stay cool.
